Lighthouse Map, Measurable Health, The Sauce, Stranger Danger Challenge, SF
Yo, it’s Luke!
Been dabbling into Hyrox style training recently. I like it lot more than traditional weightlifting. You still gain strength & muscle mass, but you also build your cardio and the workouts only take 30-60 min workouts. If you try it out, lmk what you think!
That said, here is your weekly dose of 5 noteworthy ideas & things I learned about last week. Click on each link to dive further on that topic.
Here’s a live map of lighthouses around the world.
It’s pretty sweet.
2. Measurable Health Going Too Far
its crazy to me how many people wear a whoop/oura/etc and unconsciously let their "readiness score" tell them how to feel that day.
we've outsourced "knowing your body" to an arbitrary metric that might as well be a random number generator. health hyperstition is the final form

A few of my favorite comments:
Life isn't about joy, happiness, and the feeling of health. It’s absolute absolutely grinding to maximize your sleep score, V02 max, & step count.
For real though, there should be a feature where you can only see the data 48-72hrs later.
Nothing like staring your mid sleep score in its face, saying fuck you, and having a great day.
3. You Got The Sauce?
crazy how little writing or rigorous theory there is on "having the sauce," despite that being the most important determinant of your life

4. You In?
I’ve take on a new challenge: talk to 1 stranger every day for a year.
I triple dog dare you to join me!
5. It’s Got Everything You’d Want
Great weather, open minded people, professional ambition, water + mountains, bike/walkable, lots of culture, and a social scene. Cmonnn!
Thanks for wanting to know more today than you did yesterday! If you liked this edition, send it over to a friend who would like it too 🤝
Cheers,
