63: Notes To Self

Norway, Standards for Meaningful Relationships, Cold Email, Upgrade / Gene Editing, Signs of Intellect

Yo, it’s Luke!

Let’s have ourselves a weekend wooooooooooooooo!~!

That said, here is your weekly dose of 5 noteworthy ideas & things I learned about last week. Click on the blue links to dive further on that topic.

1. Trollstigen, Norway

C’mooonnnnnn. Magical!

2. Quote of the Week :)

“Show people that they matter to you: pay attention, listen, give them meaning, & love them. But, you have to go first.” - Brenè Brown

"You are 1 email and 20 follow ups away from just about everyone on earth." - Sam Parr

Not sure there could be a better asymmetric bet. Zero downside, limitless upside.

I’ve written ~100 hyper-targeted cold emails. In my experience, with 15 min of research, I get ~70% reply rates.

70 PERCENT.

It’s unreal.

Hop on the bandwagon, team!

Been binging this sci-fi book recently.

If you like a good thriller + want to feel smarter while dipping your toes into biology / gene editing, check it out.

(ps, the audiobook is free with Spotify!)

5. Signs of Intellect (Adam Grant, Tim Urban, many others)

  • “I don’t know” is not an admission of ignorance. It’s an expression of intellectual humility.

  • “I don’t understand” is not a sign of stupidity. It’s a catalyst for intellectual curiosity.

What gets people in trouble isn't tackling unfamiliar topics. It's being ignorant of their own ignorance.

A mark of wisdom is entering new terrain with an extra dose of humility.

Thanks for wanting to know more today than you did yesterday! If you liked this edition, send it over to a friend who would like it too 🤝
