75: Notes To Self (personal journal edition!)
Beautiful Cities of The Future, Luke from 2025, Luke from 2024, Luke from 2023, Luke from 2022, Luke from 2021
Yo, it’s Luke!
I was re-reading some past journals on a plane ride Tuesday. It was really thought provoking.
So I thought it’d be fun to fill this edition with random insights from young Luke.
Hope you enjoy!

Imagine…what could’ve been.

2. Memorized Life Rules (Luke in 2025)
Inspired by this Julian post.
When I first moved to SF, I didn’t set big goals or make a bucket list. I wrote five rules to live by. Rules that would stretch me into a better person.
All I focused on was keeping these five things top of mind (plus hitting the fundamentals like workouts). It’s worked pretty damn well.
Keep your identity small. Detach and let go.
Bias to action and build on your momentum. Action, action, action.
We create our own stress due to the perception of what we must do.
Assume positive intent and let your love shine in your communication.
Be an intentional observer. Become sensitive to the actual experience of living, to how things really feel.
3. Smattering of Learnings (Luke in 2023)
People are way more accessible to you than you think…if you’re useful.
Putting off the tasks I said I was going to do (for bullshit reasons) is my main source of stress.
Being the person who isn’t afraid to look you in the face and smile when they first meet you is a bomb way to live.
Live every day as if you’ve deliberately come back to this day to enjoy it. The final day of your extraordinary, ordinary life.
The less busy I am, the less productive I am. A little consistent momentum makes all the difference for productivity.
4. Lessons On How To Be (Luke in 2022)
Be the person that makes the people around you feel special.
The coolest people define winning on their own terms and actualize it.
The point of life is not to figure out its meaning. It is about having an open soul & feeling alive as much as possible.
Following your genuine intellectual curiosity is a better foundation for a career than following what is making money right now.
It’s so much easier to figure out how your brain works and adjust your habits & expectations, rather than try to force your brain to “act differently this time”
5. Reflection Questions (Luke in 2021)
2021 Luke had some insightful answers to these questions…might be useful for you to ponder on as well:
What were the 5 most difficult conversations of the year?
How am I complicit in creating the conditions I say I don’t want?
If repeated my weekly actions every week for 5 years, where would I end?
What are some things I could start doing today that would guarantee an absolutely horrible year?
Thanks for wanting t
o know more today than you did yesterday! If you liked this edition, send it over to a friend who would like it too 🤝
